So it would essentially be an ultra light tank class? Why? Lights are already pretty useless unless in the hands of a master. And a 40mm grenade launcher at tier X? It won't be able to do any damage. Frankly, almost none of these will after tier III or so

Whilst I like the effort, I don't think you're taking into account the guns that these vehicles are using.

Seriously, I do not want to play tier IV using a 2cm L/55. That gun is nearly useless at tier III.

The idea with armoured cars is that they are primarily super-scouts, and thus combat with tanks would not be their primary role. The guns would be (maybe) effective with opportunity shots at the sides and rears of enemy tanks. And keep in mind, this isn't a suggestion, I know there will never be armoured cars in the game, its just what they would be like if they were.

The guns sounds pretty terrible, the rest seems good. But, as mentioned before, the 20mm is an awful gun at tier III+.

That grenade launcher has potential to really annoy a Waffentrager though.

I think the idea with the 20 and 30mm guns on the Wiesels is that they are high-velocity high-penetration weapons, good for unloading a few rounds into the rear armour of tanks and running away.

That one depends on the specifics, it sounds like theyd be great at hunting artillery. but I highly doubt that Armored Cars would be a popular class if they were added, due to almost nonexistent potential damage. And maps can easily render scouts useless (at scouting, anyway.)

They would be more dependent on the map than artillery is. Which is not a good thing... The idea of a 115km/h scout is pretty amazing though, that I will admit. :izmena:

Sounds amusing, but it seems like they'd have far too many flaws for their benefits

If you look at my British armoured car thread, you'll see the FV107 Scimitar at tier X. This has a 30mm RARDEN cannon, and was used in the Gulf War. One record of an engagement between a troop of Scimitars and some Iraqi T-55s relates how the the Scimitars were able to penetrate the T-55's frontal armour when using APDS rounds, and when one of the Scimitars was hit, the round went through its aluminium armour, and passed through the tank without injuring the crew. So a 30mm cannon is functional, I would say.

I've come up with a way to make armoured cars functional: give them their own game mode. That way they can fight toe-to-toe on equal terms.

Sweet, those tier VIII and IX ones could be used as regular ol' light tanks! I would love to get me some more German light tanks!

Think about it, neither would 'World of Self Propelled Medium-Range Field Guns'', and they're still in the game. You wouldn't necessarily have to change the name.

To be fair, I didn't see that one. I only saw the French (Which, I must admit, does look like a fun line. Although, the EBR seems better at tier 8, due to it's similarity to the 13 90.), and German. That does seem like a valid enough reasoning for the gun, but aside from the high-tier autocannons, the main problem on this line idea, would be the tier V, I cannot imagine a 75mm L24 being able to do anything. Other than that, it does sound interesting.

That would either be the best thing ever, or the worst, lol. After my experience on PC's test server, I can safely say that games full of light tanks are absurdly hilarious... I think the only thing that's really missing from the entire armored car suggestion is their upgrades (and possibly the timeframe of the vehicles?). Although, roughly 170mm+ penetration on an autocannon + mobile chassis sounds amazing, that would be fun for sideshots.

And as for the "or the worst" part. When they start ramming each other it would be a mess (After seeing a game full of Spahpanzer 1 c's doing that. It's a bit annoying.)

Great work on the idea though :)

But but, the 222 is SO cute!!!

FYI the 75mm L/24 is the same as the one the PzIII gets (still a bit crap for Tier 5 though) and the Sd234/2 (Puma) uses the same 75 as the PzIV does in the non Derp top package (again a bit crap for Tier 6)

The 222' picture isn't loading on mine, lol.

The L/24 just seems like the 'dud' to me, I haven't played the PzIII in a while though, it might be usable on that chassis, but I don't see it working out too well. The Puma has roughly equivalent firepower as the MT-25, which isn't too great, but it seems like it'd be usable for sideshots.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c5/Sd.Kfz.222_-_reconstruction.JPG if that's it. Doesn't look like a bad vehicle, lol. tiny, fast, and sloped.

The Puma and Panhard EBR are the only Armored Cars I really know anything about, even then, nothing too notable. (I didn't know the designation of the Puma off the top of my head, that should say enough)
