Managed another six games in 'Herkules' today, (I christened my Tiger with the name.) two more wins, and one survival, albeit with a ton of damage! Slowly but surely getting the hang of this monster- your advice definitely helped. Had some interesting duels with a T29 (Shredded that guy!) and two IS-3s that sadly got the better of me, but were badly beaten up enough for the Tiger 2 in our little attack group to finish off. Holding back and using range, keeping battlefield versatility really pays off. I also swapped out my binocs in favour of a gun laying drive, and it paid in spades- my aim time certainly shakes up anyone who tries to gang up on me now. I'm running a rammer, gun laying drive and vents, and this tank is now dishing out serious damage. I earned a Knispel's medal class 2 with Herkules today, managed 1000,000 damage with this beast so far!

Excellent work!

Yeah, the aim time is the only issue I have with the Tiger but the Gun Drive really helps...especially when it is paired with a crew that has Snap Shot and Smooth Ride.

Don't worry, I am still learning and improving in Rosa myself so don't be too hard on yourself. You can do it though! I was a below average player when I first got my Tiger and I lost so many matches at first that I wanted to give up. Now, I am sitting at a 58% W/L, almost 3 K/D, 2 Radley-Walters', 10 Devastators, 3 MoE, and Ace Tanker ^_^

Just give it time and you could be teaching me a thing or two someday :)

Nice name by the way :3

Happy Hunting! :izmena:

Good night last night- 6 battles in Herkules, all victories, only two of which I didn't survive. One of those was more my fault than anything else, on Abbey- waiting for the battlegroup to move oout, and joined them- only to have them peel off and base camp while I trundled off down the West road with only a medium as escort. By the time I realised what happened, I'd been attacked for half my hitpoints by a TD on his way to base cap, but managed to damage him and his escorting T29 to the point where they were no longer a threat to our lines. I'd have finished them off, but arty got the better of me. :arta: I still managed to earn two 3rd class mastery badges during the evening though. The first battle was interesting it was in Sand River and I was bottom tier, and tagged along with two Tiger II's, a Tiger I and a Jagdtiger 88 to flank the enemy positions, using the dunes as cover. Glad I didn't decide to defend the base, as all the tier 9's decided to go for our base and I'd have been shredded. We managed to take out a few enemy Tigers, a Churchill and some arty, and ended up base capping for the win. We all realised that there was no way that we could take on the tier 9s, so we just went for it! All in all, a good evening's work.

Glad to hear it :)

Remember that the Tiger's mobility is one of its best assets and it can get you out of Dodge to live to fight another day. Most Heavy Tanks have no hope trying to catch you and most mediums will struggle to keep up once your Tiger gets a full head of steam going.

One of the best approaches if you have to run is to do it early enough to get out their line of sight and then circle around to tear into them from behind.

Keep up the great work!

Still problems with the game but, there has been minor improvements.  I get frustrated and been taking the game in small doses.  It's back to the garage when things seem the worst and the rage is building to take "Crom" (Tiger 1) out.  He always makes me feel better and I'll normally quit playing after a stellar outing with him.  It's amazing watching other heavies try to keep pace with you when you go on a one man flank attack.  Clean up one side.  Reverse direction and proceed to the other flank while other tanks are still trying to catch up.  Becket knows his Tiger "Rosa!"

This thread has been great help.  Is there a particular camo pattern people like to use?

It depends what your personal preference is, really. I went for the three-colour camo of dark yellow/reflective green/red oxide splotches, as it's one that's historically accurate for the vehicle, and looks good on it. The three-colour 'spaghetti' camouflage, to my mind, works best on small tanks, and looks lost on something as huge as the Tiger, while the 'ambush' camo, while accurate, just looks dreary and dull on this beast and looks better on medium tanks and TDs. That said, I'm no fan of urban camo, but I did splash out on the two-tone grey splotches for 'Herkules', because I thought it looked particularly menacing prowling through the streets of Himmelsdorf stalking for prey!

well Sgt. Becket, your advice was awesome. "Burt" as I have named her and I have had some awesome games. Raced through to my first MoE seconds nearly there. But most importantly I'm having more fun in Burt than I have in WoT tanks in a long time. I'm on Xbox one if any one fancies putting a tiger platon together, we would tear it up.

I am honored that it helped :)

She greatly rewards players that learn her quirky playstyle ^_^

You should remember to keep your enemys to your right, as the ammorack can be hit from the front left side, and it is always better to allow the radioman to get hit over the driver.  You can also aim upwards and hold it with the bumper to angle your mantlet (remember that if you want to hold your beautiful turret in place to tap LT then RB to avoid autoaiming on a red instead), or you could wiggle the turret buy spamming RB.  Remember that if you are in the open to angle your tank at about 18-20 degrees, as your side will still autobounce.  armor doubles its thickness at 60 degrees (so hull angle of 30, also this is without any normalization) so even at 65 degrees you can still get penned by high pen guns, you must always try to get the side to the magic 70 degree angle.  If, however you are up against tanks (tier V) with about 100 or so pen, then this is the only time when you angle about 40ish degrees, to make yourself complete impervious to low pen guns.  The Tigger does not have the thickest armor, but as it neutral steers and it is very boxy, you can get very creative with the angling.  (the only angling on the Tiger is the lower portion of the front which is 100mm @ 30 degrees - 115 effective w/o normalization.)  Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

I love my Tiger I call him Otto "Der Gute Kamerad". I have 5 Radley-Walters in him, Though Otto has been taken over by the Jagdtiger as my favourite tank, Otto is still held in high regard.

Been a while since I last took Herkules out for a drive, but had a couple of days with it now- getting the hang of this beast at last, and confident enough to take it out against Tier IX's. Even managed to win and survive a team destruction today.

Thanks for the guide.  The Tiger I was the first tank that I got an MoE.  It is my favorite tank but I haven't been playing it recently as I have been concentrating on other tanks.  Due to this guide, I have a renewed intrest in my Tiger and will apply some of the suggestions.

Happy hunting!

My stats may not look as great as others.  Spent the first 6k battles just trying to get the daily 2 XP bonus.  Then someone on the forum gave me advice.  Slowing improving.   Willing to learn.  My Stats: http://wotinfo.net/en/efficiency?server=XBOX&playername=cinco+de+rojo
