I was thinking, there are probably quite a few historical camouflage schemes that we could be able to apply to our tanks, but aren't in game yet. I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread where people could contribute ideas. I'll start.

Britain: Caunter Scheme

This was a scheme applied to British tanks and vehicles in the North African desert. It consisted of a few shades of sand, light blue and a dark grey-blue, applied in around 5 geometric stripes, usually diagonally across the vehicle, often all starting and spreading outward from a point near the front of the vehicle. There is some debate as to the actual shades of paint used in real life. There are two variations. One with sand, light grey-blue and dark grey-blue (shown below), or one with much more vibrant shades of sand yellow, and light and dark blue, as applied to the Matilda at Bovington, but I am sure WG's historical accuracy department could clear this up. The camouflage was widely applied to both Cruiser tanks and Infantry tanks, as well as truck, cars and armoured cars. I think something similar to this is already in game, but its a lot brighter and has a shade of pink in it.

Britain: 'Mickey Mouse' scheme.

This was a camouflage scheme applied to many British vehicles in the European theatre immediately after D-Day and until the end of the war. It consisted of a olive green background, with the the upper surfaces of the vehicle painted black, with small 'splodges' of black paint that apparently look Mickey Mouse's ears along the top and bottom edges of the vehicle. It was mainly applied to trucks and personnel carriers, but was applied to some tanks. The RAF had a variation with the olive green replaced with RAF earth brown that was applied to service vehicles including staff cars, tankers and service trucks.

Anybody have any other ideas?

(And yes, I know this ought to be in suggestions, but hardly anyone looks in there).

That god awful neopolitan ice cream pattern is their attempt at caunter. The use of blue is a fallacy, proven many years ago by the likes of Mike Starmer. His site is the goto for British WWII colours. http://www.mafva.net...tarmer camo.htm

I'd like to see and accurate caunter scheme too, as well as the malta scheme and the mickey mouse pattern.

I have many, many actual camo patterns for Germany that are backed up by photographic evidence that I'd like to see, I could spam this thread with pics for quite a long time..

I was confused cause I that you wanted your tiger to just be flat blue, not the MW2 Blue tiger camo:teethhappy:. That would be cool even if not historically accurate, Blue Tiger was my fav back in MW2 also:)

Girls und Panzer of course...

But on a realistic note that Caunter one would be good, the Bovington Matilda is hella sexy.

Another good one for the British would be the early war pattern, with a light olive green base and dark bronze green or black stripes over the top:

I'd also like to see the colour scheme for some pre-war tanks, the overall gloss bronze green as seen on the Vickers Independent at Bovington:

I think all the Brit tanks should be that dark green by default as they are in real life, but nope biege...

They're definitely green, just a worn, faded green, though at certain angles the lighting does make them look a beige-ish colour..

I would like to see the the devs stop having the German tanks always start out dark grey as most of the German tank lines were painted DunkelGelb from the factory, not Dunkel Grau

Maybe if you had camo net applied your tank would have foliage and branches on it or something like that.

Only anything built after 1943, then in 1945 new tanks were painted Dunkelgrun instead. There was even a brief period where it was ordered that the basecoat was to be the RotOxid primer with the DunkelGelb/DunkelGrun applied directly over that as camo.

Yes which is a good number of tanks I assume. Heck a good number even left the factory in red oxide primer as well. I guess I'm just splitting hairs here, although the tree branch idea is pretty neat I think
